Nine more days…sitting fingers crossed for the Nordkapp trip once more, hoping to see in some light this time. Planning to do some more driving in the trip, can’t let Vivek to taste it all alone

Norwegian lands….awaiting to embrace you.

After the failed first attempt to write a LOT about the Helsinki-Kirkenes-Nordkapp trip for christmas vacation, i am writing from scratch for the second time.

All the way through the northern norway Kirkenes to Norkapp only thing I could do is a humble bow, to the extreme mystery behind the Gigantic mountains, deserted house – a single house on top of a hill or a single house in middle of a river, or a single house in middle of a huge plain. All i was feeling is like the myths,stories,tales about the longliving Himalyas and her saints came true in front of my eyes but as a modern living. Fortunately or unfortunately we had hardly 2 hrs of sunlight for a day to see this extreme presence of nature in this part of the world but yet a fullfiled experience. Though the last 30 kms of the road was closed due to a bad weather it didn’t stop me from drowing in the beauty of the glorious mountains and nature… Hats off once again…wish i will see thy again…..

Funny/Scary part: Our return journey down the hill was accompanied by bulldozer and ambulance(due to bad weather) fearing our car will jump out the mountain roads. :p

Started a bit early today from house since i had some work in Arvind’s office @ thoraipakkam after which i had to reach my office. My helmet was drenched in yesterday’s rain, so the maximum place i could offer for it was the helmet lock. Added to the early morning, sun was also heating the road a little less. Roads were also not swallowed entirely by cars and two wheelers as it used to during the peak hours. With Raja’s song in iPod and @ only 35-40 km/hr speed it was pleasant to ride my discover bike. All my way i could see human are beautiful ,

1. A brahmin old man was worshipping the morning sun with his arms raised and eyes closed,

2. A girl while crossing the road stopped half the way, closing her eyes by seeing the vehicles coming and opening her one eye after a fraction of seconds, Read the rest of this entry »

Time: 8:30 pm.

Location: Guindy station, Chennai.

No one has to elaborate the city traffic at this time in this place. At this place i was in a need to find a place for parking the bike somewhere, since i need to wait for my friend siva and to pick him home. While searching for a parking place, i passed by a road-painting of Sai Baba and a lady collecting the coins thrown by the people crossing it. She was also adjusting the colours slightly at times. Having noticed this in many places i was really interested in knowing their living. So found some place, finally parked my bike and thought i would get into some conversation with the painter women there.I just came near the painting and kept watching for sometime. Few people crossed the place putting some money over the painting and few even stopped to pray to the painting of Sai Baba. By this time the source of light that she kept near got dimmed and she was getting the next one ready. Actually she was burning rolled piece of torn political posters that were posted nearby one by one as a light source(I was happy that these poster atleast has this use).

Its more than a month since i wrote in the blog. Not so busy with work or something but didn’t give a thought about writing. Anyways i am hear sharing the moments i spent in Thiruvanamalai , a place which i visited on December 22, 2007 but planned to go a year back.

Neither i have any relatives there nor i visited the place before that, but whenever i come from my native place Kumbakonam to Chennai the board “Thiruvanamalai xx kms” near Dindivanam made some kind of inpression/attraction in my mind that i decided to visit there some day for sure. Approximate after a year this time i decided to go in the month of december and asked Abhishek a friend of mine on 14 th dec but due to some other reasons we were not able to make up for that week . Then that full week i kept googling and wiki-ing about the place and Sri Ramana maharishi.

Finally decided to visit the temple and place and started from chennai on 21st evening . But one small thing came to my mind. Why not live the city of saints as a saint for one day. Read the rest of this entry »

A week after the grand Diwali celebration i was going to meet a friend in T-nagar and waiting for her near the famous Renganathan street. The end of Diwali didn’t give much a rest to the all time busy street and it was crowded that day too. There came a woman with a child in her hand begging in the street . She went to a guy asking for the money telling him about her poverty and stuffs as she does to everyone all the 365 days. As a reply neither he gave some money nor sent her away but told her that he cannot give money but he can get something for her and the child to eat . Hearing that she became so happy and with a small hesitation asked “Sir, can you buy two ice creams”. That guy just smiling to himself got those ice creams , gave it to them and walked away . As a background score to all this, i was able to hear a guy selling newspaper “Interesting news sir , Indian GDP has reached ever high 9 point, …… ” , “Interesting news sir , Indian GDP has reached ever high 9 point, ……”

Like the Forrest Gump dialog “Life is like a box of chocolates. You never know what you’re gonna get”, the first day i came to Finland Feb 25 2007 it was totally snow covered and i have never wondered before how a nordic city would look like.And may be thats the reason i was not amazed by snow .All i felt was that its nice but i was not reacting beyond that. As a matter of fact we will realize the worth of something only when we move away from it.But funniest thing is i didnt miss the city when i left Helsinki, but i did only when entering for the second time last week. Now one more day left i need to travel back to India on 4th November, Sunday. Surprisingly Google predicts it would snow this Saturday and like the whole Helsinki people me too watching the sky keeping eyes wide open .

Yes it did. In the morning around 10:00 am i got a call in my mobile saying its snowing outside did u get to see. Wow …not all dreams come true but this did thanks to nature and Google too. Myself and arun went out njoying the 2nd snow of helsinki had lunch at Maharaja and was happy for enjoying the snow.

Saralapatti – > Kumbakonam – > Thanjavur -> Chennai – > Finland -> Sweden -> Norway -> Finland -> Chennai .
Should this be called travel or destiny !!!!????
Whatever, walking through the memories, it sounds fine and 30 th September 2007 back to India.

This is a quite insufficient way to describe the days we spent in Norway just by words. But then, since this is the only option i am continuing here.
June 20-24 we are going to be in Norway . To be frank ,this was the only thing i know all about Norway in my 23 years . I hardly remember if have ever marked this place in my 9th or 10th class geography/history map. Read the rest of this entry »

Things written down are just whatever i came across in the evening of June 7th 2007 at LautaSarri ,Helsinki.
Sitting by the backwaters of Baltic Sea i was watching around the excellent cat walk of nature ,the breezy wind, concert of birds as a farewell to that days sun(set), green enlightenment of the leaves after their months of meditation inside the trees, what more is needed to mesmerize someone. Just when i was about to lie down on one of the rocks there ,i heard someone speaking around(rarely people will come to that place).
